Produce and Cut Flowers
 

      When you have livestock, you have manure, age the manure and you have compost, put the compost into a garden and you have very happy plants.  At our farm we never use any fertilizer but the compost made from the manure from our livestock.
 

     We never use any herbicides either'; we use mulch and pull a lot of weeds.  For pest control we use floating row covers, this is a light limy fabric that allows light and water through the but deters insects.  We are not certified organic but if the pests get out of control, we use only those products approved for organic use.

     We will be growing more of everything this year to help to satisfy the demand for our produce.  We will also have a produce stand at the farm this year and will be opening early in the spring before any farmer's market for greens, spinach, peas, etc.  

     We are putting up a high tunnel this year, which is essentially an unheated greenhouse.  The high tunnel will allow us to extend the growing season earlier in the spring and well into the fall.
